How it all began
The leading brands of Powerplan & DPG are renowned for their quality products and both have a respectable heritage to fall back on with Powerplan being established in the late 80’s (1988) and DPG (inc. Form Fittings) established in 1984. The brand names are recognised as market leaders in the specific sectors and have a reputation for delivering solutions that are fit for purpose. We know from our recent customer survey questionnaire that over 90% of our customers found the overall CMD experience good or excellent with nearly 97% finding the helpfulness & knowledge of CMD staff to be good or excellent. For us customers are our live blood and where ever we can we go above and beyond to satisfy the requirements of our customers we do.

We manufacture and supply an extensive range of lighting products whether it for dramatic, calming, modern, traditional or just plan functional lighting requirements. More than just under floor power - Powerplan Power heritage & expertise – Rack Plus The 'youngest' brand to the CMD portfolio is Rack Plus. For us this was a natural addition to our product portfolio with our 25 years electrical know-how supported with our strong design capabilities we have launched a 13amp & IEC range of Power Distribution units that fit into the 19 inch cabinet racking for servers. 
Our lighting control systems are designed with a whole host of energy saving features like 3 DSI based dimming levels to strike a ‘balance of brightness’ between the ingress of daylight and the need for artificial lighting together with absence and presence detection for ensuring luminaries are not left on for long periods of time – ideally for locations like school classrooms, hotel corridors, communal areas, etc. Combined with these features, our ‘plug and play’ install nature of our lighting control just adds further benefits to the product offering.
Our ergonomic, power & cable management products are design and manufactured with engineering and quality in mind and have been for more than 25 years. We believe in building a product that you can be confident in doing the job you need it to do without compromising on style. We also pride ourselves on being able to take this expertise and develop bespoke solutions that are fit for purpose for that specific requirement which can be turned round within days. For us there is no place for complacency and our drive for continual investment is new product design will be unveiled in the coming year.
Following the guide published by the Department of Energy & Climate Change to help business prepare for the introduction of the Carbon Reduction Commitment which is to begin in April 2010. We know that cutting back on energy use and becoming more energy efficient makes economic sense for businesses and is more apparent now in this difficult business climate. With this in mind we have developed a range of energy saving power modules – Xpress & Prime with a new web based zigbee enhanced product – Advance, due Q1 2010 to help businesses save energy consumption when users are away from their PCs. Simple but very effective.
In 1988, Powerplan opened its doors in rural Claughton-on-Brock, manufacturing under floor power namely BetaTrak (busbar system) to provide flexibility power under raised floors. The beauty of a Busbar system is the re-configurable nature of the product alongside the simplistic ‘plug & play’ install. Alongside this we then manufacture floor boxes – which can be adapted, built to suit every possible requirement needs to bring power from the floor together with a selection of screed boxes, grommets & hives.
